Discovering Enji
If we’ve met, you already know this about me: I love creating for clients, but I don’t love social media. I’ve tried the prompts, the spreadsheets, the “I’ll batch it Sunday” plans, only to watch the cursor blink at me like it knows I’m stalling. And I’m not the only one who has this attitude towards marketing for small businesses.

A marketing consultant and small-business builder, Tayler is the Founder of Enji—easy-to-use software for small business owners who do their own marketing.
A few months ago, an email I received mentioned a platform called Enji, and the words “AI” and “it writes it for you
” jumped off the screen. I subscribed, clicked around, and thought: Oh. This is built by people who actually understand what it’s like to run a small business.
Then I met Tayler Hollman, Enji’s co-founder. What followed was one of those conversations that makes you want to open your calendar, block two hours, and finally get your marketing under control.
From Classroom Dreams to Founder Reality
Tayler didn’t start in tech. With a bachelor’s in psychology and a master’s in sociology, she set out to teach community college – gender studies, sexuality, the big human questions.
The job market had other plans, and she pivoted into corporate roles where she kept gravitating toward marketing projects and process improvements. (Translation: entrepreneur energy long before the job title.)
A friend introduced her to a florist who needed help with marketing. That single connection opened a whole portfolio of wedding-industry clients and an eight-year consulting run.
Then the pandemic hit.
Her husband Brett, a seasoned software architect, started building software “for fun.” As they batted around ideas, one stuck: What if we turned Tayler’s consulting brain into software so marketing for small business owners could be DIY but with real guidance, not guesswork?
They incorporated Enji in January 2021, brought on a third partner, Owen, to accelerate engineering, and launched in May 2023…after two and a half years of heads-down building, testing, and refining. Not exactly an overnight app. And that’s the point.
“If you’re not passionate about the problem you’re solving, it’s failure to launch,” Tayler told me. “Software doesn’t get birthed overnight.”
What Makes Enji Different (and Useful on Day One)
Enji isn’t another “ideas” app. It’s a do-the-work platform. Part strategist, part project manager, part copy partner, built around the realities of tiny teams and tighter schedules.
Here’s what stood out for me as a user and a branding photographer juggling a lot:
Strategy, Not Just Posts
Enji starts with a marketing strategy questionnaire that generates a personalized roadmap. Tayler spent months translating her consulting decision-making into logic, so you’re not guessing which tactics matter for your goals.
Never Start from a Blank Page
Whether you’re drafting a campaign, planning tasks, or opening a copywriter doc, Enji gives you a smart starting point. Edit, tweak, and go – no more staring contests with empty text boxes.
Repurpose with Purpose
Paste a blog post and Enji turns it into weeks’ worth of social content. (I’ve used this a ton. It’s magic for consistency without the stress.)
Schedule and Track in One Place
Connect multiple accounts, including multiple Instagram profiles, so you can keep brand streams separate and your workflow simple. Then review key KPIs on Enji’s dashboard to see what’s actually working.
Brand Fidelity
Build multiple brand guides and voices inside Enji, so your messaging stays consistent no matter which segment of your potential clients you’re speaking to.
And, what’s even better, the team keeps improving the stack. On deck:
- a streamlined content calendar,
- Pinterest scheduling upgrades, and
- post-level analytics for deeper insights.
Why Small Businesses Struggle with Marketing
As we spoke about the mental load of planning and executing a marketing strategy, or even a single aspect of one, Tayler said something that every entrepreneur needs to hear:
“It’s exponentially harder to spend your own chips.”
When the stakes are personal – your time, your money, your reputation – every post feels like it has to be perfect. That pressure leads to overthinking, which leads to… not posting.
Meanwhile, the biggest brands on earth show up daily with the same core message, said a hundred different ways. Consistency isn’t trendy; it’s how visibility compounds.
Enji’s philosophy is refreshingly human: give owners an objective starting point and a repeatable process so the emotions don’t run the show. You don’t need 40 tools or 40 hours. You need clarity, cadence, and a way to measure progress.
How I’m Using Enji (and What I Recommend)
As a photographer, my energy belongs on location and with clients…not rewriting captions from scratch. My workflow now looks like this:
- Plan the message (offers, launches, or helpful content for my audience).
- Draft or paste long-form (blog or newsletter).
- Repurpose in Enji to generate social posts, then lightly edit for voice.
- Schedule across accounts (yes, it supports multiple Instagrams).
- Review KPIs so I can double down on what resonates.
It’s simple, sustainable, and, most importantly, repeatable. Because visibility is a habit, not a hail-mary.
Your Marketing Stack, Simplified
There will never be a perfect all-in-one. (Tayler will be the first to say Enji isn’t trying to rebuild Canva.) But what they are doing is bringing together a platform that can work in concert with some of the best stuff already out there.
A smart, lean stack for most creatives might look like:
- Enji for strategy, planning, repurposing, scheduling, and analytics
- Canva for design
- Your email platform (I love Flodesk) for nurturing
- A brand photographer (hi! 👋) to ensure your visuals actually match the words you’re sharing
When those pieces align, everything you publish feels cohesive…because it is.
